Overheating 

Overheating can occur due to loose connections, overloading circuits, or faulty components. This can lead to equipment failure, fire hazards, and reduced lifespan of switchboard component

Moisture and Dust Damage

Improper sealing or poor environmental conditions can lead to moisture or dust getting into switchboards, resulting in corrosion, short circuits, or insulation damage. This is particularly a problem for switchboards installed outdoors or in poorly ventilated areas.

Insufficient Capacity

An increase in demand for electrical power in your building or a planned expansion means switchboards can become undersized, leading to overloaded circuits and tripping breakers. Insufficient capacity is a common issue when facilities expand without upgrading the switchboard.

Faulty Circuit Breakers

Circuit breakers that have been in service for a long time may become less effective at interrupting circuits when required. Breakers may trip unnecessarily or fail to trip during an overload, posing a risk to both equipment and staff.

Non-Compliance with Modern Standards

Switchboards that do not comply with current Australian Standards may have design and safety flaws, putting both the equipment  staff at risk. Modern standards require things like RCD (Residual Current Device) protection that older switchboards may lack.
