wonthaggi recreation reserve

The Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve recently underwent a comprehensive electrical upgrade, a project expertly managed and executed by Teoma Group. This endeavour involved a significant revamp of the reserve’s electrical infrastructure, highlighting Teoma’s capacity to efficiently coordinate and deliver large-scale projects on behalf of multiple stakeholders.

Key project Stats:

  • Approximately 1,200 hours.
  • Eight team members from Teoma Commercial & Civil divisions rotated through the project.
  • Supply and installation of a new main switchboard and two new group meter panels on the new site.
  • Upgraded site mains cabling from the substation to the new main switchboard.
  • Supply and installation of new conduits and mains cabling to group meter panels.
  • Alterations and extensions of existing facilities’ sub mains to group meter locations.
  • Relocation of metering from ten facilities to the newly supplied main switchboard and group metering.
  • Two new additional connections and metering for upgraded supply to new facilities.
  • Provision for additional supply points for proposed new buildings.
  • Hands-on project management, coordinating with AusNet and 14 clubs operating within the recreation reserve.

Set in South Gippsland’s largest multi-purpose outdoor venue, the reserve features diverse facilities including multiple football and cricket grounds and seven surface netball courts. The expansion of this precinct required a comprehensive revamp of the existing electrical metering system to meet the Victorian Service and Installation Rules as administered by AusNet Services.

The project’s scope involved relocating metering to a centralised switchboard, installing new conduits, and cabling, and preparing additional supply points for proposed new buildings. Teoma’s approach was marked by meticulous planning and execution, ensuring minimal disruption to the reserve’s day-to-day activities. The switch-over process was carefully coordinated with AusNet Services and Downer, resulting in only brief, planned outages.

Senior Project Managers diligently worked to coordinate with the 14 clubs based at the reserve. Regular and clear communication ensured that the clubs were well-informed about the project timelines and any necessary schedule adjustments. This level of stakeholder engagement and proactive communication is a testament to Teoma’s operational ethos.

The consolidation of power supply from various sources to a singular system over the 15-acre reserve demonstrated Teoma’s expertise in handling large-scale electrical consolidations. A dynamic team of eight, from Teoma Commercial and Teoma Civil, invested around 1200 hours to successfully complete this project. The commitment was further exemplified by team members willing to stay away from home to ensure timely project delivery, reflecting Teoma’s dedication to meeting project deadlines with minimal downtime.

With the completion of the electrical upgrade, Teoma Group has not only demonstrated their technical proficiency but also its unique approach to project management. Their emphasis on stakeholder engagement, adaptability in accommodating complex schedules, and the willingness of their staff to go above and beyond by staying on-site away from home are qualities that set them apart in the industry. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for future developments at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, with Teoma playing a pivotal role in enabling these expansions.

With the electrical upgrade project at Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve now successfully completed, the stage is set for future developments, including the expansion of the soccer club. This accomplishment not only showcases Teoma Group’s technical prowess but also its adeptness in aligning project goals with community needs, effectively managing stakeholder relationships, and delivering comprehensive solutions that cater to the long-term interests of the community.
