Teoma Group was engaged to conduct an electrical infrastructure upgrade at Malvern Valley Golf Course, aimed at enhancing the site’s electrical efficiency, particularly in its irrigation system and overall power distribution network. The upgrade involved installing upgraded electrical cabling that was compatible with the existing irrigation control systems. This upgrade will support future development of the site and improve the current system’s reliability.

The installation of sub mains required careful planning for adequate power distribution across the property. There was strategic planning from senior project managers to have minimal disruption to the greens and operating environment when installing over 1500m of cable. It was imperative that the busy gold course remained operational during the works, and that the functional integrity of the course wasn’t altered.

Teoma’s Civil division assisted with all earth preparation and make-good solutions across the site in addition to conducting all directional drilling works. The project included Non-Destructive Digging (NDD) excavation and electrical pit installation. Using NDD techniques minimised risks to existing underground utilities. This was vital for installing underground conduits, navigating underground utilities, and optimising conduit paths with minimal disruption to the bustling operating environment. This technique preserved the integrity of the golf course’s grounds and facilitated smoother installation with minimal disruption to the club.

Spanning approximately 6 weeks of earth preparation and underground work, followed by 2 weeks for cable installation, the project totalled 450 hours of labour. Senior Teoma managers coordinated with the power authorities, Metro and Vic Track given the proximity to high-voltage lines and fibre optics. Teoma Civil’s comprehensive project management led to the proactive identification of previously unknown services on the golf course. This resulted in significant and essential updates to the ‘Dial Before You Dig’ plans, benefiting future contractors and the community.

Completing the Malvern Valley Golf Course project demonstrates Teoma’s proficiency in executing complex electrical infrastructure projects in a busy operating environment. Their commitment to quality, innovative solutions, and focus on sustainability demonstrates Teoma Group’s ability to deliver high-quality, efficient outcomes that prioritise our client’s needs.
