For 25 years, Teoma Group has been at the forefront of the commercial electrical industry, and its recent project at Victoria University further accentuates this dedication to excellence and innovation. The campuses, previously hindered by outdated lighting systems with inadequate LUX levels, now benefit from a network of intelligent and energy-efficient lighting. Under the leadership of an experienced project manager and the hands-on involvement of Senior A-grade electricians, the extensive project scope was flawlessly executed in line with the University’s own Net Zero Plan.

Werribee campus boasts 33 new energy-efficient motion sensor light poles and floodlights, while St Albans glimmers with 37. The campus was further supplemented by an additional 200 lighting fixtures replaced across both campuses. With modifications to the existing switchboards to effectively carry the new power load, completed in off-peak times and university breaks, the campus had minimal disruption to its regular activities. The newly installed fixtures go beyond mere illumination. Our major projects team strategically selected an advanced lighting control system specifically designed to adjust their brightness from dawn to dusk.

Employing adaptive technology that conserves energy and ensures safety, these fixtures are set to enhance the campus by modulating light intensity in response to the surrounding environment. This means those travelling through the campus after sunset will have a clear illuminated path and that the university will see significant cost savings through this new lighting program.  The carefully engineered design will ensure minimal energy consumption with savings by the installation of the Thorlux automatic lighting control systems often exceeding 70%.

A distinguishing aspect of Teoma Group’s approach was its commitment to offering wholistic services. This encompassed exceptional project management, impeccable earth preparation, minimally disruptive civil services, top-tier electrical works, and turnkey solutions. The result was a smoothly executed project completed within the stipulated timeframe. This meant the team were able to ensure minimal disruptions to the university’s operations and daily campus life. The campuses grappled with dated systems that were at risk of compromising safety due to poor lighting. Being able to prevent this in a timely manner with minimal disruptions to the campus was one of the key benefits of Teoma’s experienced project coordination.

These redundant lighting fixtures were energy-intensive, leading to inflated utility bills and a heightened carbon footprint across the campuses. With the introduction of the state-of-the-art Thorlux SmartScan system, the university is poised to benefit from a dynamic energy optimisation system. This innovative system, with its ability to adjust based on movement detection and daylight conditions, ensures substantial energy conservation. Consequently, the university over the next year will note marked energy savings, which will translate to decreased operational costs and a notable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the goals to save energy, save money, and save the environment.

Opting for a high-quality, weatherproof fitting, the university is assured of durable, efficient, and responsive lighting solutions to operate year-round. These selections not only cater to the immediate illumination needs but are pivotal in meeting broader energy targets, promoting sustainability, and guaranteeing long-term cost benefits.

The Lighting Upgrade at Victoria University is a shining example of Teoma Group’s dedication to innovation, quality, and sustainable practices. By blending top-tier design, construction expertise, and unparalleled electrical solutions, Teoma reaffirms its position as an industry frontrunner, consistently exceeding client expectations.
