Switchboard Upgrade Services for Bayswater Industrial State - Teoma

Summary

The Teoma team delivered a complex SWB upgrade for multiple tenancies in a Bayswater industrial estate. This is one of many recently completed SWB and supply upgrades that our team has completed.

With our continued success in this area and our capability to complete both the design and installation entirely in house, we are fast becoming the go-to electrical contractor for major SWB works in the Greater Melbourne industrial areas.

Works were completed over a single Saturday with our project Manager Steve Manning drawing on a team of 11 to ensure the smooth transition and recommissioning.

  • Supply Interruption: 12 hours
Project Overview

Teoma was engaged by the client to carry out all works and preliminaries associated with electrical requirements to enable the subdivision. The existing SWB fed multiple pillars and a total of 9 properties in this development. The 3000 amp supply was retained, with Teoma handling all works associated with the delivery and installation of a new SWB.
An interesting characteristic and added complexity of this project was the integration of an existing busbar feed to one of the premises. This busbar established electrical supply through an enclosed chamber to a distribution board approximately 20 metres from the board. As this was an existing installation, careful attention was required during the design phase to ensure the new SWB that our team was delivering would marry up to this in-flexible existing installation.

With an SWB upgrade project, there is no way to test fit a new board or leave things to chance on the day. Furthermore, a limited timeline and multiple commercial and manufacturing properties requiring electrical supply mean there is a minimal margin for error or modification to the project timeline. With our large team, we were able to call on 11 people to deliver the works from start to finish in less than 12 hours. Success on this project came strictly down to project management and efficient delivery of service on the day. This stands testament to Teoma’s ability to deliver in even the most limited circumstances.

Teoma has completed the extensive supply and SWB upgrade works over the last 20 years. The team’s demonstrated capability and reputation were critical in the client’s decision to engage our team. Through the entire project from initial engagement to completion, there was ongoing communication with all parties ranging from other tenants to supply authorities and inspectors.

The capacity to bring all of these elements together and deliver a project like this on a single day is something that the team at Teoma is renowned for.
