“Whatever you grow will save a bro”
Men are facing a health crisis that isn’t being talked about.
We lose 60 men each minute, every hour, every day to suicide – men who should still be here today.
70,000 men are diagnosed with prostate and testicular cancer yearly. Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons.
Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects across more than 20 countries with the aim of reducing the number of men dying prematurely by 25% by 2030.
The team at Teoma Group saw the need to continue to raise awareness of these issues, so we undertook one of our greatest challenges of the year. In addition to creating a conversation to tackle the stigma surrounding men’s health, we wanted to play our part in providing support through funding for those suffering from health issues.
We tasked our team with two separate challenges for the month to enable our entire team to participate. Our two categories were ‘The Greatest Mo’ and ‘The Greatest Mover’. Our team kickstarted the month with a BBQ to learn about this noble cause with many of our team signing up for both challenge types.
Over the month the team walked, ran, worked out and even grew (some very iconic mo’s in our opinion) to continue drawing awareness to the cause. Many kilometres were tracked over the month with the community rallying together to support us. As the challenge drew to a close, we gathered together to celebrate our combined efforts.
“We are inspired by those who despite unbelievable hardship and pain have chosen to become victors”
Our Mo Awards reaffirmed that we all want to move towards a world where men aren’t dying young and that there are so many people in the community who feel the same and were motivated to do something about it. As a collective, we raised a total of $3209 dollars in support of Movember.
We would like to congratulate Cameron Beavis on being recognised as the ‘Greatest Mo’, and Beau Rees, on being recognised as our ‘Greatest Mover’. Beau set a goal and ran over 250km after work and on weekends acting as not only a motivation for other team members but to create a conversation about these important health issues.
The entire team at Teoma Group are immensely proud to play our part in Movember 2023 and would like to thank every single person who contributed generous donations and support to help make this challenge a possibility!
