The Victorian Energy Upgrades program (VEU) provides local businesses with compelling incentives to transition to LED lighting. Under this initiative, the Victorian government mandates large energy retailers to surrender Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) each year.
Why switch to LED lighting?
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) offer superior efficiency compared to older lighting technologies. They provide excellent light quality, instant start up times and boast a significantly longer lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements. This longevity, spanning up to 25 years, coupled with accelerated return on investment, has led thousands of Australian businesses to upgrade their conventional lighting systems to LED.
How do I know if my business is eligible?
All Victorian businesses using fluorescent commercial and/or industrial lighting are eligible to partake in the VEU program.
To receive a discount on your LED lighting installation, you must:
- Install an approved product. Research approved products for suitability and quality, as not all options offer the same performance or are suitable for every environment.
- Work with an accredited provider. Obtain quotes from various accredited providers. These providers offer diverse products, services, expertise, and costs. Ensure to procure quotes from multiple accredited providers to ascertain the final installed price, inclusive of the discount.
Who is an accredited provider?
An accredited provider is:
- Any business that is approved to execute or facilitate installations within the VEU program.
- Responsible for helping businesses secure a discount on installed appliances through the VEU program.
